Speaking about his performance in the field, Gill Skippered Team India-A against Team India-B in Round I of the 2024 Duleep Trophy. The encounter took place at M Chinnaswamy Stadium located in Bengaluru; however, it did not turn out well for him. He got out on 25 runs and 21 runs leading to Team India-A’s defeat by 76 runs.

Shubman Gill has been selected for the Indian team for the first Test against Bangladesh

Indian cricketer Gill is set to undergo his debut in foreign cricket when Bangladesh visits India for a two-matches Tests at home ground. The first Test will commence from Sept 19th through sep-23rd in MA Chidambaram Stadium located at Chennai; it will be followed by game number two which has been scheduled for Green Park located in Kanpur from 27th Sept to 1st Oct.

This series is also going to witness the return of wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant into Test cricket after a car accident that occurred back in December last year.

Another notable inclusion into the team is Yash Dayald, a left-arm fast bowler, who is making his first appearance on senior teams’ call up while Akash Deep, who performed exceptionally well during this season’s Duleep Trophy, was also included among other players selected.

Gill believes that Bangladesh, who recently won their away series against Pakistan 2-0, should not be underestimated. In a conversation with JioCinema, he stated:

“I don’t think you can underestimate any international side. The kind of cricket Bangladesh has played in the last couple of months, especially in Pakistan, has been impressive. Their fast bowlers and the way their middle-order batters have absorbed pressure shouldn’t be disregarded. So, I believe it will be an interesting and intriguing contest.”

In (25) Test matches, this right-handed batsman has amassed 1492 runs at an average of about 35.52, with four centuries and six fifties.
