Shubman Gill Shares A Meal With His Family After Day 1 Of BGT 3rd Test

Indian cricketer Shubman Gill spent a calm evening with his family, enjoying dinner together after Day 1 of the third Test in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) on Saturday, December 14, in Brisbane.

Shubman’s sister, Shahneel Gill, posted a photo of the family moment on her Instagram Stories, featuring their parents, Lakhwinder Singh and Keart Gill. She captioned the post:

“My qt little family.”

Rain disrupted Day 1 of the third Test, allowing only 13.2 overs in the first session, while the second and third sessions were completely rained out. Australia finished the day at 28/0, with Usman Khawaja (19) and Nathan McSweeney (4) unbeaten at the crease.

Shubman rejoined the team for the second Test after missing the first due to a left thumb injury. In the pink-ball Test, he got decent starts but failed to capitalize, scoring 31 and 28 in the two innings. The visitors faced a heavy 10-wicket loss, while India had secured victory in the opening match in Perth.

Australia recover after an early setback on Day 2 of the 3rd BGT Test

Jasprit Bumrah made an early impact for India during the morning session of Day 2 by removing both openers. He sent Usman Khawaja packing for 21 and followed it up by dismissing Nathan McSweeney for just 9. Nitish Kumar Reddy then contributed to the attack, dismissing Marnus Labuschagne for 12, which left the Australian team struggling at 75/3.

Travis Head, the centurion from the previous match, partnered with Steven Smith to guide Australia to 104-3 at lunch. Post-lunch, Australia gained momentum, with Head smashing a quick fifty off 71 balls, while Smith brought up his half-century off 128 deliveries.

At the latest update, Australia stood at 227-3 after 68 overs, with Head nearing his century on 98 and Smith steady at 63. The BGT 2024-25 series is currently level at 1-1.
