The 20-year-old Shubman Gill is undoubtedly a quality player. The batsman is praised to be the next big thing in Indian cricket. Against Sunrisers Hyderabad he made a tricky chase looked fairly easy and paced his knock brilliantly.

This year the KKR management comprising of skipper Dinesh Karthik and coach Brendon McCullum has already hinted that he will be part of the leadership group in IPL 2020. Now former England captain Kevin Pietersen also want Gill to lead KKR in the IPL.

Kevin Pietersen Wants Shubman Gill To Captain KKR 

Pietersen very well knows when he sees quality on the cricket field. The former cricketer fancies Gill to take over the reins of captaincy in IPL 2020 itself.

Pietersen tweeted, “He should be the captain of KKR -@RealShubmanGill”.

However, post the win against Sunrisers, their current skipper Karthik made it very clear that they want the youngster to enjoy his cricket right now.

Meanwhile, Gill is certainly a future captain of KKR franchise and it might be possible that he may become the youngest ever captain in the IPL. The right-handed batsman this year will continue to bat at the opening squad as coach McCullum believes that he is already one of their best batsmen.

Kolkata open their account in IPL 2020

Gill was awarded the player of the match for his 70 not out against Sunrisers. The youngster after failing in the first match of IPL 2020 looked determined and wanted to lead the charge for KKR.

Furthermore, only time will tell when Gill will become full-time captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL. He will be next seen in action against the Rajasthan Royals on September 30 (Wednesday).

KKR clinched their first win of the season as they defeated David Warner’s men comprehensively. They chased down the target of 143 with two overs to spare as Gill starred for them in the run chase at Abu Dhabi.
