Shubman Gill delivered a captain’s knock when Gujarat Titans needed it the most, scoring a brilliant century in Qualifier 2 against Rajasthan Royals at Mullanpur and putting his team within touching distance of the IPL 2026 final. Leading the chase from the front, Gill dominated the bowling attack and reached his hundred in only 47 deliveries.
The knock marked Gill’s fifth IPL century, drawing him level with Sanju Samson. It was also the fastest century by a Gujarat Titans batter and a new IPL Playoffs record. In doing so, Gill surpassed his previous best of a 49-ball hundred, which came during his unbeaten 129 against Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 of the 2023 season.
Playing in familiar conditions near Chandigarh, Shubman Gill looked composed and in command throughout the run chase. He brought up his century by advancing down the pitch and lifting a delivery over the infield, a stroke he had executed successfully several times during his innings.
Gill became the first batter in IPL history to score two playoff centuries. After reaching his hundred, he celebrated by removing his helmet, raising his arms and bowing to the crowd. Chasing a challenging target of 215, the Gujarat Titans skipper ensured his side remained firmly in control, blending class and aggression throughout his knock.

Gill & Sudharsan Give GT Strong Start in 215-Run Chase
Chasing a target of 215, Gujarat Titans got off to an excellent start thanks to Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan. Rajasthan Royals’ decision to open the bowling with Jofra Archer proved costly as the pacer conceded 19 runs in the first over, allowing both batters to settle quickly and take control from the outset.
The opening pair raced to 69 without loss in the Powerplay and continued their aggressive approach after the field restrictions ended. They kept the scoreboard moving at a rapid pace while maintaining control, helping Gujarat reach 91 without loss after eight overs.
Gill brought up his half-century in 30 balls, taking on the bowlers with a series of boundaries, while Sudharsan matched his intensity by reaching his fifty in just 26 deliveries. The left-hander also crossed the 700-run mark for the season, strengthening his position among the tournament’s leading run-scorers.
Gill and Sudharsan’s partnership was historic, making them the second-highest scoring pair in IPL history and setting a new playoff record with a 160-run opening stand. Sudharsan’s 58 off 32 balls ended with another hit-wicket dismissal, his second in successive playoff matches. By then, Rajasthan’s hopes were all but over, while Gill sealed the chase with a superb century that sparked celebrations in the GT camp.
