Gujarat Titans secured a commanding seven-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2026 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on Friday, May 29.

Chasing a formidable target of 215, the Titans clinical display saw them cross the finishing line with eight balls to spare, earning them a coveted spot in the tournament final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Sooryavanshi’s Brilliant 96 Powers Rajasthan

Earlier in the evening, Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag won the toss and elected to bat first. The decision initially paid rich dividends, driven by an extraordinary performance from 15-year-old opening sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.

The young prodigy tore into the Gujarat bowling attack, unleashing a spectacular array of boundaries. Sooryavanshi smashed 96 runs off just 47 deliveries, an innings decorated with 8 fours and 7 sixes. During his explosive knock, he crossed the 1,000-run milestone for the season, becoming the youngest player to do so.

Middle-order stability from Ravindra Jadeja, who remained unbeaten on 45 off 35 balls, pushed the Royals to a robust 214/6 in their 20 overs. Rashid Khan was the pick of the Titans bowlers, applying pressure in the middle overs.

Gill and Sudharsan Standardize the Chase

Gujarat’s daunting run chase turned into an absolute masterclass in opening partnerships. Captain Shubman Gill and his opening partner Sai Sudharsan dismantled the Rajasthan bowling line-up, compiling a massive 167-run opening stand. Sudharsan matched his partner’s elegance with a brilliant 58 off 32 balls, striking 7 boundaries and 2 sixes before falling in the 14th over.

Shubman Gill remained unstoppable, anchoring the innings with a majestic century. The skipper struck 104 runs from 53 deliveries, a knock that featured 15 blistering boundaries and 3 sixes. Although Jofra Archer claimed a late wicket, Gill’s clinical execution left the Royals defense completely helpless.

Glenn Phillips provided the finishing touches as the Gujarat Titans comfortably cruised to 219/3 in 18.4 overs, keeping their championship aspirations alive.
