Team India’s bowling coach Paras Mhambrey is assessing fast bowler Navdeep Saini, who injured his shoulder while fielding during the 2nd T20I against Sri Lanka in Colombo. Eventually, the Men in Blue lost a closely fought encounter going down by four wickets.
Incidentally, Saini injured his shoulder while putting in a stretched dive to save a boundary and in the process, injured his shoulder in the 19th over of the match. He immediately walked off the field along with the physio and looked in extreme pain.

Speaking about the magnitude of Navdeep Saini’s injury, Paras Mhambrey said that the medical team is assessing the situation and will inform the coach but they examine. Speaking the post-match press conference, the former India cricketer said:
“In Navdeep’s case, I think the medical team is handling him. We will assess the situation, maybe tonight or in the morning and take a decision accordingly.
“And I think, once the decision is finalised and conveyed to the selectors and the coach, I think we will go ahead and then if needed we need to make any changes, we will do that,” he added.
Surprisingly, Navdeep Saini, who was playing his first match of the tour, didn’t bowl in the match. It is unknown whether he was carrying an injury and was forced to play after nine cricketers were ruled out of the series in the wake of Krunal Pandya testing COVID-19 positive.
Sri Lanka level the series against 1-1
Batting first, India managed to post only 132 runs on the board, thanks to a brilliant bowling performance by the Sri Lankans. They used the conditions to perfection to keep the Indian middle-order in check.
In pursuit, Dhananjaya de Silva’s unbeaten 40 well-aided by Chamika Karunaratne’s 6-ball 12 guided Sri Lanka home with two balls to spare.
The 3rd and final T20I match of the series is on July 29 (Thursday) in Colombo.
