SL vs IND 2021: Simarjeet Singh To Ishan Porel – Know More About India’s Net Bowlers

Team India left for Sri Lanka on Monday, ahead of the Limited-overs series. India will play three ODIs and as many T20Is, starting from July 13.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India selection panel picked a relatively young squad. Shikhar Dhawan will lead the Indian squad, while Bhuvaneshwar Kumar will be his deputy. As many as Six players received their maiden India call-up for the tour. Along with a 20-member squad the selectors announced five net bowlers for the Limited overs tour.

Ishan Porel

Ishan Porel was part of India’s squad for the Under-19 World Cup in 2018. He picked up 4/17 in the semi-final against Pakistan, which instantly made him a star.

The right-arm fast bowler represents Bengal in first-class cricket. Ishan bowled a title-winning spell in the Deodhar Trophy 2019 against the likes of Parthiv Patel, Kedar Jadhav, and Vijay Shankar. Ishan has been on the radar of the Indian selectors for a long time and will try to gain much experience during India’s tour to Sri Lanka.


R Sai Kishore

Left-arm orthodox spinner, Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore is a product of the Tamil Nadu Premier League. He topped the bowling charts with 17 scalps, in the second edition of TNPL. He played a key role in his Tamil Nadu winning the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2017.

Sai Kishore has bagged 45 wickets in 25 matches in List A cricket, at an average of 21.15 and an economy rate of 4.57. He is part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squad but is yet to make his debut Indian Premier League.

Simarjeet Singh

Simarjeet Singh is the newest face and will travel with the Indian side for the first time. He is a right-arm medium pacer and represents Delhi in first-class cricket.

Simarjeet was the joint-second highest wicket-taker for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2020-21. The right arm pace bowler picked 11 wickets at an average of 28.45 and an economy rate of 5.65 runs.


Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh is part of the Kings XI Punjab squad in the Indian Premier League. On his debut against Rajasthan Royals,  the left-arm bowler accounted for two big guns, Jos Buttler and Ajinkya Rahane.

Arshdeep has picked 19 wickets in 17 games at an average of 25.11 in the IPL and has impressed the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, KL Rahul, and Irfan Pathan. He was part of the victorious Indian U19 World Cup 2018 squad. He represents Punjab in domestic cricket.


5. Sandeep Warrier

Sandeep Warrier is the most experienced of the five net-bowlers. The right-arm medium pace bowler from Kerala made his first-class debut back in 2012 and has played over 50 first-class games since then.

Warrier the leading wicket-taker for Kerala in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018-19, with 12 wickets. He has picked 53 wickets in T20 matches so far at an average of 26.54 and an economy rate of 7.29 runs.
