Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has given a stern warning to the players about the possible withdrawal from the ongoing tour in Pakistan. A few of the players have expressed their concerns about the security situation and are not willing to go on with the tour. The SLC has warned that any player who opts to leave the tour will be subjected to disciplinary measures.

The Sri Lankan team is staying in Islamabad during the tour. The following match is supposed to happen in Rawalpindi on Thursday. The whole issue mirrors the continuous disputes regarding the safety of players during international cricket tours in the area.

Sri Lanka to continue cricket tour of Pakistan

As a response to the concerns raised by the players, Sri Lanka Cricket has given the team the assurance that the Pakistan Cricket Board, along with the relevant authorities, is going to enhance the security measures. The purpose of these measures is to ensure the complete safety and protection of all the members of the visiting team. The board is very confident of the arrangements being made.

Sri Lanka Cricket has made it clear that there will be proper replacements for any player who decides to pull out. The firm stance of the board is a clear indication of its commitment to see through the tour even amidst existing fears. This move is a manifestation of the difficult balancing act between the commitments of the organization and the welfare of the players during international cricket engagements in challenging conditions.

“Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) was informed by the team management this morning that several members of the national team currently touring Pakistan have requested to return home, citing safety concerns. Following this development, SLC immediately engaged with the players and assured them that all such concerns are being duly addressed in close coordination with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the relevant authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of every member of the touring party,” said SLC in a media release.

Pakistan conquered the first ODI by a slender margin of 6 runs, thus taking the lead in the three-match series by 1-0, thanks to the remarkable performances of Salman Agha (105*) and Haris Rauf (4/61).
