SLvIND : It”s Advantage India After Day 2 of Galle Test

It was another dominating day for India, as Sri Lanka has been reduced to 154 for 5 after being bowled out for a massive 600. From Sri Lanka, Angelo Mathews is still batting on 54 while Tharanga was dismissed for 64.

Resuming the second day on 399 for 3, Pujara completed his 150 in 257 balls while Rahane scored his fifty in 118 balls.  Nuwan Pradeep got the big wicket of Pujara for 153 and 9 runs later Rahane was dismissed for 57. In the first hour, Sri Lanka bowlers gave away just 52 runs taking 2 wickets. Ravichandran Ashwin was looking in good form timing the ball while Saha gave him support. Both of them added 59 runs for the 7th wicket. The wicketkeeper batsman was dismissed 16. Nuwan Pradeep took his maiden 5 wicket haul in test matches by dismissing Ravichandran Ashwin for 47. At lunch, India were 503 for 7 with Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja at the crease.

After the lunch interval, Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed by Nuwan Pradeep for 15. Hardik Pandya and Mohammed Shami smashed the Sri Lankan bowlers to all parts of the ground hitting sixes at will. Both of them added 62 runs which helped India go past 550. Mohammed Shami was dismissed for a quickfire 30 in 30 balls. The debutant Hardik Pandya completed his first fifty in 49 balls. India was dismissed for a massive total of 600. Umesh Yadav remained not out on 11.

Sri Lanka started their innings on a poor note as Karunranthe was dismissed by Umesh Yadav for just 2 runs.  Tharanga and Gunathilkha played some wonderful strokes to end the second session at 38 for 1.

After the tea interval, both batsmen continued to play attacking strokes. Tharanga completed his half century off 44 balls. Gunathilkha and Kusal Mendis were dismissed in quick succession to leave Sri Lanka at 68 for 3. Experienced pair of Tharanga and Mathews played with positive intent. Both of them added 57 runs for the fourth wicket before Tharanga was run out by Mukund. Dickwella was dismissed by a brilliant catch for 8 runs. The experienced Angelo Mathews completed his fifty in 81 balls and is still not out on 54.

Sri Lanka still trails by 446 runs and need another 247 runs to save the follow on.
