The much-anticipated wedding of cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music-composer Palash Muchhal — slated for November 23 in Sangli — was abruptly called off when Mandhana’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, was rushed to hospital due to a serious health scare.
On top of this, Palash himself was admitted to hospital the very next day with health complications. While both were later discharged, no new wedding date has been declared, leaving the event postponed indefinitely.
In response, Mandhana deleted all photos related to the wedding from her social-media accounts — including engagement and pre-wedding posts — which triggered widespread speculation. Meanwhile, the event management company behind the celebration posted a cryptic message on Instagram, fueling further rumours about the couple’s future plans.
Return to Social Media — and the Missing Ring
Recently, Mandhana shared her first Instagram post since the wedding was called off. This post, part of a business partnership with a toothpaste brand, immediately grabbed fans’ attention — not for the advertisement itself, but for what was not visible: her engagement ring. The absence of the ring sparked a flurry of comments and speculation, with many questioning whether the ad shoot was done before the engagement, or whether something more was going on behind the scenes.
Despite growing chatter, neither Mandhana nor Palash has publicly spoken about the ring or addressed rumours about their relationship status. Their social-media bio updates — which swapped out previous wedding-related posts for a simple “evil-eye (nazar)” emoji — added to the ambiguity.
Family Speaks Out, Plans Unclear
According to statements from both families, the postponement happened solely because of health emergencies — there were no other underlying issues. Palash’s sister, Palak Muchhal — and other close family members — have appealed for privacy during this sensitive time.
Despite swirling rumours — including a now-debunked report that the wedding was rescheduled for December 7 — no official new date has been confirmed. Mandhana’s brother, Shravan Mandhana, dismissed such reports, stating clearly that the wedding remains postponed. Meanwhile, both families say they remain hopeful that the wedding will happen once circumstances allow.
