“Sometimes When I’m Not Batting Well, I Look At Him And Learn” – Sarfaraz Khan Talks About Brother Musheer

Musheer and Sarfaraz Khan

Musheer Khan

Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan looks up to his younger brother Musheer Khan and learns from him whenever he struggles during his professional career. Musheer has been impressive for India in the ongoing U19 World Cup 2024 in South Africa.

The youngster was dismissed cheaply in the match against Bangladesh. However, he has made amends in the following two matches. He slammed a century against Ireland and followed it up with a 73 against the USA. He has also taken two wickets so far in the ongoing tournament. It has been a joyous few days for the Khan household as Sarfaraz too received his maiden India call-up for the second Test against England. Speaking about his younger brother, Sarfaraz Khan said,

“He’s a better batter than me. I’m not saying this because he’s my brother. Sometimes, I may be struggling, but watching his technique and trying to work out what he’s doing would give me confidence. His mannerisms, and bat flow is very good. Sometimes when I’m not batting well, I look at him and learn,” Sarfaraz told ESPNcricinfo.

“If I batted 300 balls, Musheer would bat for 300 balls even if he’d done a lot of bowling. Our middle brother, Moin, would do the throwdowns. Having two cricketers in the house, he decided to switch to training,” he added.

Musheer’s reverse sweep is better than mine: Sarfaraz Khan

Musheer Khan is the third leading run-scorer at the U19 World Cup 2024 so far. In 3 matches, he has slammed 194 runs at an average of 64.66. Earlier, the ICC drew parallels between Musheer and Sarfaraz Khan’s batting style in a video. The elder brother also spoke about their techniques and expressed that Musheer plays the reverse sweeps better than him.

“Musheer’s reverse sweep is better than mine. Sweep, I think mine is better since I have a better judgment that has come from experience. We always want the other to do better. Now when he bowls and I bat, there’s a lot of healthy competition,” said Sarfaraz Khan.
