Former Indian skipper and current BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has backed India to win the Pink-Ball Test against England at the newly laid Motera stadium. England have won the toss and elected to bat first. Both teams have made a few changes heading into this game after a week-long break. Also, they have limited knowledge about the conditions, that will be available at the newly laid Motera wicket. This will be India’s third Test day-night Test while England’s fourth encounter of such kind.

Through a tweet, Sourav Ganguly has congratulated the workforce for finally setting up the Motera stadium for the historic Test match. It will host more than 1 lakh 30 thousand spectators making this the biggest cricket stadium in the world, even bigger than Australia’s Melbourne Cricket stadium. There are a total of 11 pitches on the ground — six are of red soil and five of black soil.

“Will miss being at the stadium today ..what an effort it must have been to create this ..pink test was our dream and it’s going be the 2nd one in India. Hope to see full stands like last time. Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime minister @narendramodi Amit Shah @AmitShah” Ganguly wrote on Twitter.

He also spoke to ANI on his perspective as to how the Test match will pan out. He has backed the Indian team to win the Test match. He further said that the Indian team has changed over the years and has become a lot more competitive.

We Are Going To Win It: Sourav Ganguly

“Indian cricket has changed a lot and our cricketers have done so well. I am sure if we play well, we are going to win it. I generally don’t predict but I feel India is favourite here,” Ganguly told ANI.

India needs to win the ongoing series by at least a margin of 2-1 to make the finals of the World Test Championship, but if the side loses another game, Kohli and boys are out of contention.
