Stand-in skipper Rahane led from the front and let his bat do the talking which was the key feature of his performance in the Test match. He said in the pre-match presser that he will allow the Australians to play mind games while he himself will focus on getting the job done for his team.

This win is India’s fourth at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, making the stadium their most successful venue overseas. They’ve won at Melbourne in 1977, 1981, 2018 and now in 2020.

Rahahe has been given a lot of accolades for the way he handled the win in the absence of key players. Also, he has been credited for the way he has handled two debutants Mohammed Siraj and Shubman Gill. Gill played an unbeaten 35-run knock and as involved in a 51-run stand with Rahane which saw India through in Melbourne.

Meanwhile, Cricket Australia has confirmed the Sydney Cricket Ground as the venue for the third Test. Rohit Sharma is likely to make a comeback in the game. However, a final decision on the same will be made before the Test match.
