The South African cricket team, on Thursday, announced its squad for the upcoming limited-overs series against Sri Lanka. Senior players Quinton De Kock and Lungi Ngidi will miss the ODI series. De Kock has been rested, while Ngidi has opted out due to personal reasons.

David Miller’s hamstring injury is still being monitored. Meanwhile, all-rounder, Dwaine Pretorius will make his return to both the ODI and T20I squads.

The limited-overs series will kickstart from September 12 with the first ODI, followed by the second and third on September 4, and September 7. The three T20Is will take place on September 10, September 12, and September 14. R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo will host all the matches.

The last time, South Africa toured Sri Lanka for a limited-overs series they won the ODIs 3-2 but lost the one-off T20I against the hosts. This year the series will take place just before the ICC T20 World Cup, in the UAE.

“Playing against quality opposition in the sub-continent is the best way for our team to prepare for this event, and we are grateful to Sri Lanka Cricket for accommodating us during this time of the year where schedules are highly condensed,” said Pholetsi Moseki, Cricket South Africa’s acting CEO in a press release.
