There are three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) scheduled between India and Sri Lanka as part of their white-ball series. In the first ODI, both teams will square off following their recent T20I series, in which India easily defeated Sri Lanka. The game is scheduled for Friday, August 2, at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

The likes of Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer will be rejoining the Indian team under Rohit Sharma, who will captain the team throughout the ODI series. In addition, Sri Lanka will be hoping to improve given the impending first ODI after a lacklustre performance in the T20I series.

The playing eleven is probably going to stay mostly the same with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul back in the lineup for the ODI series. The only thing that might be unclear in this situation is if coach Gambhir will likely bring back Shivam Dube for the ODI setup or continue to rely on his gut feeling when selecting Riyan Parag.

IND vs SL head-to-head record:

The head-to-head record between India and Sri Lanka in One-Day Internationals is an interesting topic! As of July 2024, India and Sri Lanka had played 168 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), with India winning 99 of those matches.

Sri Lanka has won 57 of the matches, with 11 ending in a draw and 1 ending in a tie. The 2017 Champions Trophy and the 2018 Nidahas Trophy are just two of the major series in which the teams have competed against one another.

Who will win the match?

It’s very hard to say who will be victorious, as both sides are really strong. But India is on a recent high with its victory at the T20 World Cup. Nonetheless, Sri Lanka has had some bright patches too, Â kicking off their previous matches quite well. For now, India is leading but overall, the match stands at equal points for both teams.
