Sri Lanka vs India, 2nd ODI: Who Will Win Today’s Match Between SL vs IND?

Sri Lanka vs India

Sri Lanka vs India

In a low-scoring but thrilling opening ODI against India on Friday, Sri Lanka managed to eke out a tie. However, captain Rohit Sharma played on a different ‘track’ from his fellow colleagues, who were totally exposed against great spin bowling.

As the team chased 231 to win, captain Rohit struck for 58 runs off of 47 balls as the other batters struggled to find comfort against an army of Sri Lankan spinners. Meanwhile, captain Charith Asalanka claimed wickets in back-to-back deliveries to contribute to the 44th match in ODI cricket history.

India never looked comfortable in the match and ultimately tied Sri Lanka, who will be encouraged by their performance heading into the second ODI, despite a respectable middle-order partnership between KL Rahul and Axar Patel.

IND vs SL head-to-head record:

It’s really interesting to explore the face-to-face statistics of One-Day International (ODIs) matches played by India and Sri Lanka. By July 2024, India has an enormous advantage with 99 wins from 169 ODIs that have been contested between these two countries.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka has emerged victorious in 57 games, had 11 draws and two tied games. The two national sides have enjoyed notable rivalries in past years such as the 2017 Champions Trophy and the 2018 Nidahas Trophy series.

Who will win the match?

Sri Lanka and India will be facing each other for the second ODI. This series has been captivating so far because the first ODI ended in a draw while India won the T20I series. It is hard to determine the winning side based on how they perform as of now or on which players are together in a team. Nevertheless, I would suggest going with India although it may not be that easy for them because they have been playing ODI cricket longer than any other nation and they are playing at home ground.
