Sri Lanka is set to play its first day and night test match against Pakistan in UAE. The first test match is scheduled for 28th September which will be followed by the second test from 6th October. Last year West Indies took on Pakistan in a day night match at Dubai from 13th October to 17th October.
Sri Lanka lost the recently concluded test series by 0-3 and then was whitewashed by India 0-5. In this tour to UAE, Sri Lanka will play 2 test matches, five One day internationals, and three T20 internationals according to a report.
“The exact itinerary will be released shortly,” a Sri Lanka Cricket official told AFP. Sri Lanka will play its first day and night test matches as the pink ball matches have attracted huge audiences. The other teams who have played with the pink ball are England, Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, New Zealand and West Indies.
West Indies and England played its last day and night test match at Edgbaston which hosts England won by a massive margin. It has become popular with people coming to the stadiums with their families.
The first day and night test match was played between Australia and New Zealand at Adelaide Oval. Australia won that match by 3 wickets. In November, the arch rivals, Australia and England will play the seventh day and night test match at Adelaide Oval from 2nd December to 6th December. It is going to be a historic moment for Sri Lanka cricket to play its first day and night test match.
