Sri Lankan Journalist Calls Virat Kohli Overrated, Gets Bashed By Former England Cricketer

Team India skipper Virat Kohli endured a poor run in New Zealand. He has scored only one half-century in the nine innings so far in the tour. Following his poor run, he has received severe criticism from the fans including a Sri Lankan journalist, who called Kohli overrated, only to get bashed by former England cricketer Alex Tudor.

Kohli's poor form took a toll on the team as India went down 3-0 in the ODI series followed by the ten-wicket drubbing in the first Test at the Basin Reserve in Wellington. Virat Kohli managed only 201 runs from nine innings at an average just over 22 which is not up to Kohli's standards. Moreover, this is one of his poor outings ever since he broke into the international scene.

Following his poor returns, Sri Lankan journalist Daniel Alexander took a dig at Virat Kohli and called him overrated. Notably, Alexander has been one of the biggest critics of the Indian team and the cricketers. He also rated Steve Smith, Babar Azam, and Kane Williamson better than the Indian counterpart.

"19, 2, 9, 15, 51, 11, 38, 11, 45 – Virat Kohli’s scores in New Zealand series 2020 (all 3 formats). #Cricket Inns – 9 Runs – 201 Ave – 22.33 50 – 1 *Steve Smith, Babar Azam & Kane Williamson top three all format batsmen and score in all conditions. Kohli over-rated," the Sri Lanka journalist tweeted.

Meanwhile, it didn't go well with former English cricketer Alex Tudor, who took on the Sri Lankan journalist. Tudor, who has played 10 Tests and three ODIs for England slammed the journalist for calling out Virat Kohli for one bad tour.

"Overrated are you just looking for people to hit up your timeline one bad tour & people coming for the great man," Tudor replied to the tweet.
