Star India Cricketer Breaks Down On Camera After Omission From T20I and ODI Squads For Bangladesh Series

India women vs England Women

Shikha Pandey

Star Indian cricketer, Shikha Pandey, shares emotions on camera following exclusion from T20I and ODI squads for the upcoming Bangladesh series. However, during an interview with former Indian head coach WV Raman, Shikha Pandey became emotional when asked about her exclusion from the Bangladesh tour.

Her absence came as a surprise to many, considering the team’s busy schedule in the upcoming months.

She finished as the leading wicket-taker and helped her team reach the finals. This isn’t the first time Pandey has been inexplicably left out of the Indian side.

Earlier this year, she made a comeback to the team for the T20 World Cup in South Africa. But she was subsequently excluded from the central contract and hasn’t been considered for the ODIs and T20Is in Bangladesh.

During her interview with Sportstar and WV Raman, Pandey became emotional while discussing her non-selection. The 34-year-old expressed her frustration and anger, emphasizing the disappointment of not getting the desired results for the effort she has put in.

Pandey believes that there must be a reason behind her exclusion that she is unaware of. However, she remains committed to hard work and believes in its significance.

She stated that she will continue working hard until she is mentally and physically fit. A video captured the moment when Shikha Pandey broke down in tears while discussing her non-selection.

Shikha Pandey is an experienced player and had a successful season in the Delhi Capitals’ Women’s Premier League (WPL).

Pandey has represented India in 120 matches across formats. She has an excellent record in white-ball cricket, particularly in bowling.

Her omission from the 2022 World Cup drew significant criticism, but she was included in the T20 World Cup squad in South Africa earlier this year.

Shikha Pandey acknowledged the importance of having supportive mentors during challenging phases of her career and expressed gratitude towards WV Raman for his support.  She initially considered walking away from cricket when she was dropped but was advised to give herself more time due to the emotional period she was going through.

Pandey mentioned feeling disappointed at present but acknowledged that she can only control the decisions she makes to overcome this situation. Renuka Singh and Richa Ghosh, among other prominent players, were not selected for the Indian squads participating in the Bangladesh tour.

Pandey will be disappointed to miss out on the opportunity but hopes to make a comeback for the upcoming series against England and Australia later this year.
