Mitchell Starc, an Australian fast-bowler, recently said India is the only country which can play three different formats in the same day. What he meant was that India has so many talented players that there could be three different teams playing the highest level of cricket in three different formats in the same day.
While talking to FanaticsTV on YouTube, Starc said, “I think India is the only nation that could have Test team, One-Day team & T20I team play on the same day — Australia in Test, England in ODI & South Africa in T20I — and India will be competitive, no other country can do it.”
Something similar was also said by Michael Vaughan. BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) spends a ton of money on domestic cricket and its infrastructure. This enables India to produce excellent quality of cricketers across formats.

Rishabh Pant, Abhishek Sharma, Jaiswal Sitting Out Proves Starc Correct
Players like Rishabh Pant, Abhishek Sharma, Yashashvi Jaiswal, and more were sitting out in the dugout during the recent Champions Trophy 2025. With such players sitting in the dressing room, one can understand the quality of players India has.
This proves what Starc is saying is correct. In the last two white ball tournaments that India has played, it has won both. In fact, the World Cup 2023 was also a brilliant campaign for the men in blue as they lost only one match during the tournament. Unfortunately, that match was the finals.
However, with Rohit Sharma announcing that he has no plans to retire any time soon from the ODI format, it is very likely that he will have one more go at the ODI World Cup in 2027. It will be interesting to see if Virat Kohli is also there alongside him to lead the team.
