I Stuck To A Length Since The Ball Wasn’t Coming On To The Bat: Shivam Mavi

Shivam Mavi

The Kolkata Knight Riders took on the Rajasthan Royals at the Dubai International cricket stadium. The Royals skipper Steve Smith won the toss and elected to bowl first despite knowing the fact that only teams batting first have won at Dubai this season.

Both sides went with unchanged playing XI from the one that they played in their previous games. It was the battle between two great sides as both franchises were eyeing another win this season. KKR opener Sunil Narine had a disappointing start yet again as he was again dismissed for a low score.

Whereas Shubman Gill went on to score another high score as he went on to score 42 batting alongside Nitish Rana and Andre Russell in small partnerships. After Gill’s dismissal,  it was Morgan who led the charge and took KKR to a total of 174.

In reply, the Rajasthan Royals side had a horrendous start as they lost their top 5 batsmen under 8 overs with Shivam Mavi leading the charge. It was all down to Rahul Tewatia and Tom Curran to finish the game off but it just wasn’t Tewatia’s day tomorrow as he was cleaned up by Varun Chakravarthy.

We witnessed some late firecrackers in the form of Tom Curran as he scored an unbeaten 54. The late blitz wasn’t enough as KKR won the match against RR by 37 runs.

Shivam Mavi led Kolkata’s bowling attack against Rajasthan

The man of the match of today’s game Shivam Mavi who picked by 2 wickets for 20 runs in 4 overs said that he stuck a particular length through the game instead of bowling on different lengths. He also spoke since he had played against the big stars before, he knew where and what to bowl to the batsmen today.

“When I started bowling, it was seaming. So I thought I’ll stick to normal lines and lengths. Before the game, we thought it would be flatter. So I just stuck to a length. Have played against these big stars before, but I knew it wasn’t coming onto the bat,” Shivam Mavi said at the end of the match.
