Sunil Gavaskar has once again come up with an interesting statement this time related to Ajinkya Rahane’s captaincy. The batsman from Mumbai is currently leading team India in the boxing day Test at MCG. Recently Gavaskar has been in the news for taking an indirect dig at Virat Kohli when he stated that there are different rules for different people in the Indian team.

Gavaskar was unhappy with the way T. Natarajan and R. Ashwin had been treated by the current Indian management. The former legendary batsman is currently in Australia and working as a commentator during the Australia and India Test series. After the end of day 1, Harsha Bhogle asked Sunil Gavaskar to give his opinion on Rahane’s captaincy during a show on Sony Sports.

Sunil Gavaskar stays away from speaking about Ajinkya Rahane’s captaincy

Rahane who is leading India in absence for Kohli was spot on with his bowling changes and field placement on day 1 of the second Test. He impressed everyone with his calmness while leading the side. However, Gavaskar stayed away from speaking about Rahane’s captaincy as he felt that people will again misunderstand him and think that he is backing Mumbai boys.

“I won’t say much about Rahane’s captaincy because then people will say I am backing Mumbai boys and all kind of things,” Gavaskar said.

Nevertheless, Gavaskar doesn’t want people to again create controversy from his comments and he is again asked to give a clarification.

Talking about Rahane, he will be mighty pleased with team India’s effort of the opening day of the boxing day Test. The visitors dismissed Australia for 195 and ended the day with being just one down for 36 runs.
