Ravichandran Ashwin took his 29th five-wicket haul to bowl out Englan for 134 in their first innings. In the process, he went past a few milestones. He got to 200 dismissals of left-handers and also went pas Harbhajan Singh’s tally of 266 wickets on home soil. Inching closer to 400 Test wickets, Ashwin was almost unplayable on day 2, something which former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar said as well. Meanwhile, India have went past 250 runs with their lead in the second innings on day 3.
Reflecting on Ashwin’s match-changing performance with the leather, Gavaskar termed the veteran spinner as unplayable at home.
Ravichandran Ashwin Is Unplayable In Indian Conditions: Sunil Gavaskar
“He is pretty much unplayable in these conditions because he knows exactly the line to bowl, the length to bowl. He’s been mixing his pace. He’s been superb,” Gavaskar told the Star Sports Network.
Gavaskar also said that Ravichandran Ashwin will get to 400 wickets before the end of the bilateral series between England and host India.

“We saw that in the previous game as well, when he got six and three – nine wickets in the match and here again he is one course to get into the 390s. By the time the series is over, he will definitely have more than 400 wickets,” Gavaskar added.
Ravichandran Ashwin is now only behind former Indian skipper Anil Kumble‘s tally of 350 wickets at home. The off-spinner is also just nine short of the 400-mark.
Meanwhile, India lost four quick wickets on day 3. Chetesshwar Pujara was rather unlucky to be dismissed run-out. His bat stuck on the ground in his attempt to get back to the crease as Ben Foakes found him short. Foakes was involved in three wickets of the four dismissed. He stumped Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant on his 28th birthday apart from getting Pujara run-out.
