Its IPL season as all franchise for close to two months will be battling out in the UAE. Several popular commentators and analysts have started predicted playing XI of all franchise. Recently Sunil Gavaskar picked the playing XI of 2016 IPL champions Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Apart from obvious picks, some unusual players were picked by Gavaskar for SRH. He picked the trusted opening duo of skipper Warner and Bairstow in his SRH squad. However, Gavaskar had no place for Kane Williamson in his squad and went for Manish Pandey to bat at 3.

“The way Warner and Bairstow had their opening partnership in the entire tournament, both made many runs. So they will open the batting”, Gavaskar said to Sports Tak.

Then you need the two Afghan players Nabi and Rashid as they are match-winners. That is why Kane Williamson will have to sit out for the first few matches. I will send Manish Pandey at No.3”, he added.

Further, Sunil Gavaskar went with an all-out Indian middle order. Gavaskar picked India’s U-19 skipper Priyam Garg and trust him to bat at 4 for SRH in IPL 2020. Vijay Shankar and wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha will bat 5 and 6 respectively in his Sunrisers squad.

“India U-19 captain Priyam Garg will bat at No.4. Vijay Shankar who is an all-rounder can play. Wriddhiman Saha had scored a hundred in the 2014 IPL final so he can bat at No.6”, Gavaskar added.

Meanwhile as far the crucial number 7 spot in the Sunrisers is concerned, Gavaskar went in with the T20 specialist from Afghanistan Mohammad Nabi. In next he picked Nabi’s teammate the superstar leg spinner Rashid Khan. Gavaskar concluded his side by picking Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Basil Thampi and Sandeep Sharma as his three fast bowlers.

“Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Basil Thampi is also a good bowler. He had bowled well in the 2018 IPL season. He did not bowl so well in the 2019 IPL because maybe he was not fully fit then. But this bowling attack can prove to be quite a dangerous one for the opposition. Their bowlers have under the radar bowling ability and thus they can surprise many teams in the tournament”, Gavaskar concluded.
