Asserting that the GT captain would leave a lasting legacy. Sunil Gavaskar compared Hardik Pandya’s leadership to that of the great MS Dhoni.
The Gujarat Titans captain has played in 16 of the team’s first 21 games and has a win percentage of 76. It is significantly higher than Dhoni’s (58 percent) and Rohit’s (55 percent) percentages.
In their inaugural season, GT won the IPL under Hardik’s leadership the previous year. Although Hardik’s batting performance this year may not have been spectacular, his leadership has once again been top-notch.
After defeating the Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday by a margin of 7 wickets, they reclaimed first place. Sunil Gavaskar, a former India captain, praised Hardik’s leadership and predicted that the all-rounder would leave a lasting legacy.
“The captains occasionally make an effort to maintain a personality that is similar to that of the team. The captain’s personality may differ from that of the team”.
The team is not being forced to accept Hardik’s personality. Hardik is utilizing GT in this manner. His legacy as a skipper will be this.
A comparison between MS Dhoni and Hardik was made by the illustrious cricketer
“He’s very similar to MS Dhoni in his approach as captain and has absorbed the positive qualities from his former India skipper,” Gavaskar said on Star Sports Cricket Live.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz, a young keeper-batter from Afghanistan, slammed 81 off 39 balls when given the chance to bat, but KKR only managed a score of 179 for 7.
Gurbaz’s dazzling innings included seven sixes and five fours, and birthday boy Andre Russell (34 off 19 balls) also used the long handle well in the closing stages.
With 13 balls left to complete the chase, GT reached 180 for 3 in 17+5 overs. Shubman Gill and David Miller each contributed 49 and 32 runs while Vijay Shankar remained unbeaten at 51.
The way Noor and Little bowled was excellent. On any other day, I would have scored 180 runs on that wicket. As a team, we are aware that no matter what the circumstance, we must play solid cricket if we want to win the match.
We are winning cricket matches as a result of our humility. They are respecting the situation, we want to deal with it, and all we need to do is play smart cricket,” Hardik said following the game.
