Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar has given his opinion about Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as captains of two different formats. While Rohit was named the new ODI skipper, Kohli will continue as the Test skipper. Rohit was earlier shouldered the T20I captaincy as well after the T20 World Cup.
Sunil Gavaskar first spoke about Virat Kohli. He said that Kohli might return to his old form after giving up on white-ball captaincy. The Indian Test skipper is on 70 international tons, just behind Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting. Gavaskar believes that Kohli will be back to his century-hitting spree once again.

“We may see the Virat from two years ago, slamming centuries after centuries,” Gavaskar was quoted as saying in Sports Tak. An international century has eluded Kohli for more than two years now.
Speaking about Rohit Sharma, Gavaskar said his game has improved ever since taking over the captaincy of Mumbai Indians in 2013.
“We have also seen that when Rohit Sharma was made captain of Mumbai Indians, he took those scored of 20, 30 and 40 runs and converted them into big scores. When you are captain, you play with a lot more responsibilities. Your shot selection gets better,” he stated.
Gavaskar also said that Team India may see a better version of Rohit Sharma after he was appointed as the ODI and T20I skipper.
“You know you have to set an example and MI reaped the benefits by winning the title five times. It is possible to see Rohit score even more runs once he is the white-ball captain,” Gavaskar added.
Meanwhile, the Indian team has landed in South Africa for their upcoming Test and ODI series. Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the ODI series and will make a comeback in the ODIs. Kohli meanwhile has cleared the air regarding his availability for the ODI series. Ahead of that, he will lead the side in the three-match Test series.
