KL Rahul went past 500 IPL runs in the last match against Mumbai Indians. He became the first batsman in IPL history to score 500 runs in three consecutive IPL seasons. Rahul has amassed 525 runs after playing nine games in this season’s IPL before their game against Delhi Capitals. He still has a few matches to go in the league stage to add to his tally before the IPL playoffs. Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar decoded his good run of form in this season so far, while talking to Star Sports before the KXIP vs DC game.

Sunil Gavaskar Weighs In On KL Rahul’s Form

Hailing the consistency of the KXIP skipper in this season so far, Gavaskar said that the Banglore water has worked its magic on Rahul in this season.

“It’s the Bangalore water. Bangalore has produced so many world-class sportspersons. Not just in cricket, but across sports. Prakash Padukone – he is my all-time favourite Indian sportsperson. Gundappa Viswanath, Erapalli Prasanna, Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid. Bangalore has produced so many world-class athletes. So it’s possibly the Bangalore water” Gavaskar told Star Sports ahead of KXIP vs MI match in the IPL.

However, despite Rahul’s good run with the bat this season, Kings XI are placed at number seven in the points table. KXIP have lost six of their nine games so far in the tournament. Alongside Rahul, his opening partner Mayank Agarwal has scored over 400 runs in the tournament so far. Both Mayank and Rahul have also scored one century each in the season so far.

Though KL Rahul has scored a mountain of runs this season, he has been guilty of not finishing the job for his team a couple of times in the season. The young batsman also has played down the strike-rate of his game after he played rather slowly batting at the top of the order in the games that they lost.
