The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) squad has suffered a big blow ahead of their opening match of IPL 2021 against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday. The SRH side will be missing the services of swash-buckling opening batsman Jason Roy for the opening match against KKR. After all-rounder, Mitchell Marsh opted out of IPL 2021, Jason Roy was announced as his replacement by the SRH franchise.
Jason Roy to miss the first two matches of Sunrisers Hyderabad
Roy recently played the T20I and ODI series in India but flew back home as he wasn’t part of the IPL. Now as he will be replacing Marsh at SRH, Roy has arrived again in India today and will now be undergoing the mandatory 7 days quarantine period. As per the protocols, every player has to serve a mandatory 7-day isolation period and has to clear COVID-19 tests during this period.
The quarantine period of Roy will only be complete by next week which means he will miss the first two matches of SRH against Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore. From the third match onwards Roy is likely to be available for all the remaining matches of Sunrisers Hyderabad. If Roy was available from the first match, SRH would have been tempted to play him at the top as he is known to take the match away from the opposition very quickly.
