Suresh Raina To Miss IPL 2020 Due To Personal Reasons

Dependable Chennai Super Kings batsman Suresh Raina will miss the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League due to personal reasons. He had travelled with the squad to the UAE however, has now returned to India.

This will be a massive blow to Chennai Super Kings. Raina has been an integral part of the Super Kings since the start of IPL in 2008. He has scored the bulk of runs of the side and playing key roles in the three title-winning campaigns.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan took to micro-blogging site Twitter to share the news with the millions of fans and followers. He revealed that the Indian cricketer has returned to the country owing to personal reasons. Viswanath also said that CSK offers complete support to the cricketer during these testing times.

“Suresh Raina has returned to India for personal reasons and will be unavailable for the remainder of the IPL season. Chennai Super Kings offers complete support to Suresh and his family during this time,” CSK wrote on Twitter. 

Earlier this month, Suresh Raina has announced his international retirement. He was looking forward to the IPL 2020 and was looking fit and fresh and was training extremely hard. The southpaw also shared a couple of insights to keep his fans aware of his schedule.

So far, Suresh Raina has played 193 games in IPL scoring 5368 runs including one century and 38 fifties at an average of over 33.

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings are going through a rough patch in recently. Yesterday, fast bowler Deepak Chahar and 12 other support staffs tested COVID-19 positive. They are currently in isolation and will remain in quarantine for 14 days. Following that, they have to give two negative tests within 14 hours to join the squad.

As a result, the organisers have postponed the announcement of the schedule. However, they have asserted that it will begin on time – September 19.
