Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina along with famous Bollywood singers Guru Randhawa and Sussane Khan were booked after a raid was conducted at a nightclub near the Mumbai airport. The trio were released on bail later in the day. Meanwhile, Raina’s team released a statement stating the reason behind Raina’s leaving home in COVID times and also issued an apology as well. A total of 34 personnel were arrested from the club for violating COVID-19 rules. Incidentally, the Maharashtra government has implemented night curfew throughout the city as a precautionary measure with the cases once again seeing an upsurge.
The statement further said that Raina regrets the unfortunate incident and is committed to following the rules and regulations laid by the governing bodies in the future as well.
Suresh Raina’s Team Issues Statement
“Suresh was in Mumbai for a shoot which extended to late hours and was invited by a friend for a quick dinner post the same prior to him taking his flight back to Delhi. He was not aware of the local timings & protocols. Once pointed out, he immediately complied with the procedures laid out by the authorities and regrets the unfortunate and unintentional incident,” Raina’s team said in a statement.
“He always holds rules and laws laid down by governing bodies with the highest regard and will continue to do so in the future as well,” the release further stated.

Suresh Raina is currently gearing up for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy scheduled to start in January next year. The veteran, who recently opened an academy in Jammu & Kashmir is determined to guide Uttar Pradesh to a national trophy. Raina, who missed the last year’s IPL, has also confirmed that he will feature in IPL 2021 in April.
Raina retired from international cricket on August 15 last year, moments after legendary cricketer and his close friend MS Dhoni bid farewell to international cricket.
