Following the alarming injury suffered by Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer during the ongoing series against Australia, teammate Suryakumar Yadav shared a reassuring update on his condition. Iyer’s injury, which led to his hospitalization, had initially caused major concern among fans and players alike.
Yadav recalled that upon hearing about the incident, his first instinct was to reach out to Iyer directly. “The first day I got to know he was injured, I called him,” said Yadav during a pre-match press conference.
However, he later learned that Iyer didn’t have his phone with him at the time, prompting Yadav to contact the team physio, Kamlesh Jain, to check on his health status.
Positive Signs From Iyer’s Recovery
Yadav went on to explain that over the last couple of days, he had managed to get in touch with Iyer, who appeared to be responding positively. “But I have been talking to him over the last two days. He has been replying. Agar woh reply kar raha hai (If he is able to reply over the phone), that means he is stable,” Yadav mentioned.
His statement offered a sense of relief to fans concerned about Iyer’s wellbeing, emphasizing that the doctors attending to him were taking all necessary precautions. “It’s looking good… the doctors are there already. They will keep him under observation for a few days,” he added, assuring that Iyer’s situation was under control.
Team and Fans’ Relief
Suryakumar highlighted that Iyer’s communication and morale were encouraging signs for the team. “He has been replying and talking to everyone, which is good,” he said, indicating that the player’s recovery was progressing steadily. The update brought a wave of optimism among the squad and supporters, who had been anxiously awaiting any news on Iyer’s condition.
The Indian team’s medical staff is expected to continue monitoring him closely over the next few days before making further decisions regarding his participation in upcoming matches.
In the wake of this reassurance, fans and teammates alike are hopeful that Iyer will recover soon and return to the field stronger. For now, Yadav’s words have provided much-needed comfort to the cricketing community, reaffirming that the talented batter is “stable” and responding well to medical care.
