Abid Ali’s life took an unexpected turn in 1996 when he underwent bypass surgery. Due to misinformation, news channels mistakenly reported his death, prompting an outpouring of condolences from former teammates and Indian cricket fans. The situation escalated when a journalist even called to confirm if he was alive. This bizarre episode highlighted both the deep respect he commanded and the risks of misinformation in the media.
