The Year 2020 might have been one of the most dreadful years for most of us but it certainly wasn’t the said for T Natarajan. Natarajan’s 2020 has been the most eventful and memorable years of all for him, starting from the 2020 IPL where he picked 16 wickets for Sunrisers Hyderabad also being the frontline bowler for the side in the absence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Post the completion of the IPL, Natarajan replaced Varun Chakravarthy in the T20 squad for the tour of Australia as the spinner was ruled out of the tournament due to a shoulder injury. After a memorable performance in the T20 series where he picked 6 wickets in 3 games at an average of 13.83, he was then added into the One-day squad as a cover for Navdeep Saini who was nursing an injury back then.

In the 3rd ODI between India and Australia, Natarajan was given a chance wherein he managed to pick up two wickets giving away 70 runs. Following the limited-overs leg of the series, Natarajan was asked to stay back a net bowler for the side so the Indian batsman could practice facing a left-arm bowler in order to tackle Australia’s Mitchell Starc in the test series.

After the 2nd Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground where Umesh Yadav injured his knee while bowling, T Natarajan was added to the Test squad as a replacement for Yadav and subsequently, Shardul Thakur replaced Mohammed Shami in the side.

Prior to the 3rd test at Sydney Cricket Ground, T Natarajan took to Twitter to post a picture of himself in the Indian whites. He captioned the picture as A proud moment to wear the white jersey, Ready for the next set of challenges”

It is likely that either one of Shardul Thakur and T Natarajan will make it to the playing XI on 7th January (Thursday) when two sides go face to face with the series levelled at 1-1.
