Australia won the previous T20I by three wickets. They restricted Bangladesh to 104 in the first innings. Mitchell Swepson and Andrew Tye took three wickets each. In reply, Australia chased down the score in the penultimate over with three wickets in hand. Daniel Christian slammed Shakib Al Hasan for five sixes in the fourth over. He was dismissed for 39 by Mustafizur Rahman.

Bangladesh has created history in Dhaka as they have beaten Australia in three consecutive T20Is in Dhaka. Bangladesh won the third T20I of the five-match series by 10 runs on Friday. In the process, they have also ensured their first T20I series win against the mighty Australian team. In the third T20I, the Bangladesh bowlers came together as they defended 127 to win the game by 10 runs. Australia in pursuit of 128 could only reach 117/4 after 20 overs.

Winning the toss Bangladesh posted 127/9 in their 20 overs. Mahmudullah scored 52 off 53 balls as the others batted around him to help the Tigers get to that score. Shakib Al Hasan scored 26 and Afif Hossain 19 as The Tigers set a target of 128.

Set to chase 128, Mitchell Marsh’s 51 was not enough to take the Aussies home. Ben McDermott scored 35 as Alex Carey was unbeaten on 20 as the Aussies fell 10 short of the target. Some good bowling by the Bangladesh spinners did not allow the Australian batters to reach t that total. Mustafizur Rahman bowled a spell of four overs for nine runs in the win for his team.

Rank turners meant that Bangladesh had an upper hand over Australia in the series with big names missing from their squad. They already missed the likes of David Warner and Steve Smith who are better players of spin. The absence of Aaron Finch meant that Australia always played catch-up.

The second T20I between Bangladesh and Australia will take place on Wednesday, August 4 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka.

Bangladesh won the first T20I comfortably by 23 runs. Batting first they scored 131 runs at the loss of seven wickets in the first innings. Josh Hazelwood picked up three wickets conceding only 24 runs in his quota of four overs. Bangladesh batsmen did get starts but failed to convert those into a big one.

Bangladesh has created history in Dhaka as they have finally registered a win over Australia in the T20I game. Australia faced Bangladesh in the first match of the Australia tour of Bangladesh 5 T20I match series. Notably, Bangladesh was able to clinch a victory in the low-scoring encounter.

While batting first Bangladesh only managed to put 131/7 runs on the board. Australian bowlers did a great job by stopping Bangladesh at a comparatively low total in T20I. Australia have been hit hard ahead of the first t20I against Bangladesh. Pacer Riley Meredith has been ruled out of the first of the five-match T20I series to be played in Dhaka on July 03, due to a side strain. The Aussies head into this series after losing their previous T20I series against the Windies 4-1. This is their second straight T20I series which is part of their preparations for the T20 World Cup later this year in the UAE.

Meredith played two T20Is for Australia against West Indies in the series and picked up four wickets. His injury comes at the wrong time for Australia with regular skipper Aaron Finch also out of the seies with a knee injury. He will get a surgery done and will be running a race against time to be fit for the T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, the 26-year-old impressed one and all in the Big Bash League (BBL) by scalping 20 wickets in just the 14 games for Hobart Hurricanes last season.

The likes of Steve Smith, David Warner and Pat Cummins are not a part of the squad, Now with Finch ruled out, Matthew Wade will be shouldering the leadership role in the series.

The first T20I will begin on August 3 in Dhaka and the final match will be played on August 9. All the matches are set to be staged in Dhaka, due to COVID-19 norms and restrictions.

This is Australia’s final T20I series ahead of the T20 World Cup to be played between October-November in the UAE. With the regular players missing, it will be a test for the fringe players to prove their potential in the series and make their case for T20 World Cup selection stronger.
