Team India have enjoyed a stellar run so far in the ongoing Twenty20 International series against New Zealand. Last night, they kept their nerves to win another thriller of a game in the super over; second time in two consecutive games. However, all was not good for the Men in Blues as the entire team was penalised for slow-over rate in the penultimate game of the series.

Meanwhile, the match went into the super over after the game finished in a tie, where KL Rahul and Virat Kohli guided India home convincingly. Meanwhile, speaking at the post-match press conference, Kohli revealed why he came out to bat alongside Rahul in the tie-breaker. Colin Munro and Tim Seifert played gems of knocks to keep New Zealand in line during the chase of 165 runs set by India banking on a half-century from Manish Pandey.

But the plot changed in the last over when Shardul Thakur removed Ross Taylor in the first delivery of the last over. India once again successfully managed to defend the target as the game progressed to the super over. Seifert and Munro once again came out for New Zealand in the tie-breaker. India was poor on the field as they missed two catches which helped the host post 12 runs. A lot of fans hoped Tim Southee to come good for New Zealand in the super over but KL Rahul struck a six and a boundary in the first two balls to bring down the target before Virat Kohli took India home.

While the whole Indian team was busy celebrating an exciting victory, on-field umpires Chris Brown and Shaun Haig, and third umpire Ashley Mehrotra levelled the charges of slow over-rate. Later, match-referee Chris Broad ratified the decision. The Indian players were fined 40 percent of their match-fees – 20 percent for each over in keeping with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. India skipper Virat Kohli accepted the sanction so there was no need for a formal hearing.
