Scotland and Sri Lanka will square off in the 19th game of the ICC World Cup Qualifier 2023 on June 27 at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. With three victories, Sri Lanka is leading Group B after three games. Scotland, on the other hand, has a comparable record and is ranked second in Group B.

Ireland won the toss in their previous match against Sri Lanka and decided to field after choosing to do so. Despite losing two wickets quickly, Sri Lanka made a strong start thanks to a strong third-wicket partnership and they managed to post 325 runs as well, courtesy of Karunaratne’s hundred and a few other cameos. However, Wanindu Hasaranga claimed a fifer and helped his side win by 133 runs.

In their most recent match, Scotland faced Oman, who won the toss and decided to field. When Scotland was put into bat, they lost their first wicket for a duck. However, Scotland managed a huge total of 320 runs, courtesy of Brandon McMullen’s century. Later, Chris Greaves’s fifer helped the side win by 76 runs.

Predicted Playing XIs :

Sri Lanka – C Asalanka, D Karunaratne, Pathum Nissanka, D Shanaka (C), D de Silva, W Hasaranga, K Mendis (wk), S Samarawickrama, L Kumara, K Rajitha, and M Theekshana.

Scotland- Tomas Mackintosh, SM Sharif, CB Sole, MRJ Watt, A Neill, B McMullen, Chris McBride, MA Leask, CN Greaves, MH Cross (wk), and RD Berrington (C).

Weather Forecast:

Tuesday will likely be sunny in Bulawayo, with a high of 24° C and a humidity level of 31%. With a clear sky and a wind speed of 11 km/h, there is no chance of rain, and the weather will be perfect for a game.

Pitch Report:

The Queens Sports Club’s track is more suited to batters than bowlers. With the swing that the pitch offers, pacers can try to trouble the batters. But once things have settled down, batters can play their shots freely as well. Here, chasing the total would be preferred because the average first innings score is 238.

Top Player Picks:

Top Pick – Batter

Dimuth Karunaratne paced his innings really well in all 3 matches. He batted where he notched 216 runs at an average of 108 with a strike rate of 103.84.

Top Pick – All-Rounder

Wanindu Hasaranga is the only 2nd bowler after Waqar Younis to claim 3 consecutive 5 wickets hauls in the ODIs. So far in this tournament, he has picked up 16 wickets in 3 matches at an economy of 4.57.

Top Pick – Bowler

Lahiru Kumara is the 2nd best bowler for Sri Lanka in this competition, picking up 5 wickets in 3 matches with the best figures of 3 for 22.

Top Pick – Wicketkeeper

Sadeera Samarawickrama grabbed the opportunity with both hands and cemented his spot in the No.4 position in the Sri Lankan batting line-up. In 2 innings in this tournament, he has scored 155 runs at a strike rate of 103.33 with the highest score of 82.

SL vs SCO: Pick For Captain And Vice-Captain

Wanindu Hasaranga – Captain

Wanindu Hasaranga has been in sensational form, delivering exceptional performances for Sri Lanka in the ongoing World Cup Qualifiers.

Hasaranga has achieved an extraordinary feat by securing five-wicket hauls in three consecutive ODIs, matching the world record. With a total of 16 wickets to his name in just three matches, Hasaranga is undoubtedly a top choice for the captaincy role in Dream11 predictions.

Brandon McMullen – Vice-Captain

Brandon McMullen has been a standout performer in the tournament, showcasing his prowess with both bat and ball. He has been consistently effective with his bowling, claiming seven crucial wickets in the three matches played so far.

In addition, McMullen’s recent batting heroics, including a sensational knock of 136 runs, highlight his ability to contribute significantly to the team’s overall performance.

With his all-round skills and impactful performances, McMullen emerges as a strong contender for the vice-captaincy role in your Dream11 prediction team.

Head-to-head, SL leads SCO by a score of 3 to 0:

Sri Lanka has the advantage due to their shared past with the other team. The three One Day Internationals between these two teams that have been played so far have all been victories for Sri Lanka. Therefore, will Scotland score their first victory, or will the 1996 Champions win their fourth game in a row?

SL vs SCO: Dream11 Prediction

Wicket-Keeper: Kusal Mendis

Batters: Dimuth Karunaratne, George Munsey and Pathum Nissanka

All-Rounders: Brandon McMullen, Michael Leask and Wanindu Hasaranga

Bowlers: Chris Sole, Lahiru Kumara, Mark Watt and Safyaan Sharif

Captain: Wanindu Hasaranga

Vice-Captain: Brandon McMullen

The ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers 2023’s final group-stage game features a matchup between Ireland and the United Arab Emirates. This match will take place on Tuesday, June 27, at the Bulawayo Athletic Club.

Ireland lost all of their games so far, which prevented them from qualifying for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The Irish have suffered three straight losses and are currently fourth in Group B’s points standings with a net run rate of -1.007.

Mark Adair, the first bowler, bowled a tight spell, resulting in four crucial wickets at a 4.7 economy. Though Ireland gave up a massive total of 325 runs in 50 overs, he didn’t have help from the other end. The team was all out for just 192 runs in 31 overs as a result of the batters’ inability to contribute with the bat.

UAE, on the other hand, had a disappointing tournament performance and was also eliminated. They currently have a net run rate of -2.071, which places them at the bottom of the Group B points table.

When UAE took the first turn at bowling, Junaid Siddique bowled an efficient spell, picking up three wickets, and limiting Scotland to a total of 282/8 in 50 overs on a favourable batting surface.

However, none of the batters were able to follow up their strong starts with big scores, and as a result, the team lost for the third time in a row in the tournament after being bowled out for 171 runs in 35.3 overs.

First, to bowl, Junaid Siddique bowled a cost-effective spell and claimed three wickets as UAE held Scotland to a total of 282/8 in 50 overs on a favourable batting surface.

Match Details:

Date And Time: Tuesday, June 27, 12:30 IST.

Ireland has a better head-to-head record than UAE, having won seven of the eight ODI matches between the two teams. UAE has only been successful in winning once.

Ireland Won – 7

UAE Won – 1

No Result – 0

Pitch Report:

The pitch at Bulawayo Athletic Club offers a level surface with some assistance for all players. While the spinners are anticipated to produce some turn and bounce in the middle overs, the quick bowlers will have some lateral movement available to them with the new ball.

The average first-innings score at the venue is 275-290, so both teams might prefer to chase in this game.

Weather Forecast:

As of right now, Bulawayo has no chance of rain. The humidity is predicted to be in the 30s, with temperatures hovering around the 24-degree Celsius mark.

Predicted Playing XIs:

Ireland – Andy McBrine, Paul Stirling, Joshua Little, Barry McCarthy, Gareth Delany, George Dockrell, Andrew Balbirnie (c), Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker (wk), Curtis Campher, and Andy McBrine.

  • Curtis Campher
  • Waseem Muhammad

Match Prediction: Ireland vs UAE

Both teams failed to qualify for the tournament’s super six round after dropping three games on the Trott.

The Irish team, on the other hand, is predicted to win the competition since they have a slightly more experienced team than the United Arab Emirates.

However, Gurjapneet Singh shone for SMP in their triumph over SS. Gurjapneet won the Player of the Match award for his outstanding work. He also secured three crucial wickets for the Panthers.

The BCCI is open to resigning VIVO as the official sponsor of IPL 2021 after a little pause on the contract due to political tensions between China and India last year.  Dream 11 was the official sponsor for the last season after VIVO voluntarily asked the cricket board to ‘pause’ the deal for a year following the tension on the India-China border last June. Meanwhile, Dream 11’s contract ended on December 31.

China-based smartphone brand, VIVO, acquired the title sponsorship rights for the T20 league starting 2018 for INR 440 crore per year for five seasons. The political fallout between India and China on the Galwan valley border, however, resulted in the rise of anti-China sentiments in the country. Dream 11 replaced VIVO as the title sponsor for Season 13 but paid only INR 222 crore which is half the sum VIVO had agreed on.

BCCI Open To VIVO’s Return as IPL 2021 Sponsor

As per reports, the BCCI offered Dream 11 another opportunity to bid for the sponsorship rights but the fantasy sports platform has denied the offer. As per a report in Cricbuzz, the BCCI is open to the return of VIVO as the title sponsor for the 14th edition of the league as well as the coming seasons, as iterated in the contract.

BCCI is still looking for a sponsor before IPL 2021 auctions on February 18. In case the board does not manage to get the sponsorship rights, the auction will go ahead without a sponsor.

Meanwhile, the IPL owners will not need to go through mandatory quarantine before the auction on February 18. However, the owners will have to go through two negative RT-PCR tests if they were to be part of the auction. The retention phase before the actual auction ended last week with the respective franchises.

The BCCI has already sent a notice to all the IPL owners to have a COVID-19 test done 72 hours before the auction day and one on arrival at the venue, Grand Chola in Chennai. Both tests, have to come negative.

It’s official Fantasy cricket platform Dream 11 will be the title sponsor of IPL 2020 in the UAE. Dream 11 beat Byju’s and Unacademy in the end with a leading bid of INR Rs. 222 crores. The rights are established from August 18 to December 31, 2020. Tata Sons who had shown interest to purchase the title rights of IPL 2020 decided not to place a bid.

After Chinese mobile maker company had separated with the IPL this year BCCI were working overtime to find a new title sponsor for IPL 2020. VIVO had signed a five-year deal in 2018 worth INR 2199 crore, which made BCCI about INR 440 crore per season.

BCCI ropes Dream 11 as IPL 2020 title sponsor

Moreover, according to the revenue distribution contract between BCCI and IPL franchise buyers in 2018, the teams made 50 per cent of the proceeds from the central rights that included broadcast, title and additional sponsorship deals struck by the board. Around INR 111 crore will be cut within the franchises for this season, as opposed to twice the amount which did INR 220 crore each season since VIVO signed up.

Dream 11 bags IPL 2020 Title Sponsor Rights.

Meanwhile, Dream 11 was previously an official partner of the Indian premier league. Last year the fantasy sports platform had signed a deal with the most prominent T20 league in the world. But now after their last-minute bid, they have become the official Title sponsor the for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League.

The BCCI is also reportedly contemplating to rope in Unacademy and Cred as official partners for IPL 2020 in the UAE. The cricket board is likely to make over Rs 300 crore as sponsoring money. The IPL is all set to kick off from September 19 next month and all matches will be contested in a biosecure bubble in the United Arab Emirates.

With the limited-overs series done and dusted, India and New Zealand will now lock horns in a two-match Test series starting from February 21 (Friday) at the Basin Reserve in Wellington. The Kiwis are a tough nut to crack in home conditions while Virat Kohli & Co have done well across the globe which will make the upcoming encounter a mouth-watering clash.

India have received the much-needed booster in the form of Ishant Sharma ahead of the series. The tall and lanky fast bowler has passed the fitness test and has joined the squad in Wellington. However, the top-ranked Test side will be wary with the opening pair. With Mayank Agarwal settled to start the innings, the management is in a dilemma to choose his partner. Prithvi Shaw, Shubman Gill are in the runnings with Hanuma Vihari, who has thrown his hat in the ring with a fine knock in the warm-up game.

On the other hand, New Zealand will hope to get Neil Wagner for the first Test. He is expecting his first child and has not joined the squad yet. He is scheduled to join on Thursday which looks highly unlikely. If Wagner fails to make it, debutant Kyle Jamieson is likely to get a nod ahead of Matt Henry, who was called as a cover-up for the left-arm pacer. Meanwhile, the batters will face a stern challenge from the in-form Indian bowlers which will be an exciting battle to watch out for.

Date and Place: New Zealand vs India 2020: 1st Test at Basin Reserve in Wellington from  February 21 (Friday).

Dream 11 Fantasy Tips

First of all, it is crucial to select a team. As they say in cricket, you don’t score any runs in the dressing room. Similarly, a player who is not playing cannot score points for you. In fact, Dream 11 has brought a change in its rule by which you can alter your team even after the toss.

Thus, you can pick your team according to the playing XI of both sides. Secondly, it is pivotal to pick the right combination of captain and vice-captain. A captain gets twice the points whereas the deputy of the team receives points at 1.5 times.

Thus, it is imperative to select the in-form players as your respective captain and vice-captain. It is also crucial to get top-order batsmen in the team. They are likely to score the major chunk of the score. Furthermore, it is pivotal to check the pitch conditions and select the team accordingly.

Injury News

India fast bowler Ishant Sharma has regained full fitness and is raring to take the field in the first Test at the Basin Reserve in Wellington.

On the other hand, New Zealand have called in Matt Henry as a cover-up for Neil Wagner. Meanwhile, Wagner is not injured but is expecting his first child and has not joined the camp yet.

Pitch Conditions

Nestled beneath Mount Victoria and Mount Cook, the Basin Reserve is an island of cricket in inner-city Wellington. It is a perfect ground for the spectators to relax and watch a match over five days. The wicket is likely to favour the bowlers as it has done in the past. It will be a feast for the fast bowlers from both the camps.

However, there will be something for the batters as well and once set, they can score good runs in the wicket. All in all, it will be a good sporting wicket and one can expect a result out of it.

Match Prediction

Although New Zealand play in their own conditions, this Indian side has done well across the globe. Virat Kohli & his boys have exceedingly well in the last few years and the upcoming series will be no different. Despite a drubbing in the ODIs, the visitors will come all guns blazing and are likely to keep their winning run going in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship.
