Match number 30 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021was scheduled to be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, the match got rescheduled after two of KKR’s players have tested positive for the virus. Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier contracted the communicable virus.

As per reports, Virat Kohli led RCB was reluctant to go ahead with the game against Eoin Morgan’s KKR. Hence, the postponement took place.

KKR franchise’s Chief Executive Officer Venky Mysore told Star Sports, “difficult times, but I am happy to report that both Varun and Sandeep are doing well. We have taken all the precautions that are necessary and have been advised by the medical teams of IPL and KKR and also getting appropriate advice from outside on what the right thing to do is.”

“Sandeep, in particular, is doing fine. No temperature, no other symptoms, and he is feeling good. Varun is still a little under the weather, but better than yesterday and both of them are in good spirits,” he added.

RCB Players Reluctant To PLay Against KKR: Reports

Not only KKR members, but Chennai Super Kings are also haunted by the virus. Three of their staff members have also tested positive for the virus. While KKR are in Ahmedabad, CSK are in Delhi. Delhi Capitals’ spinner Amit Mishra contracted the virus as well. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s keeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha has reported positive. Hence, several cases have arisen inside the bio-bubble.

“Yes, Wriddhiman Saha has tested positive for the coronavirus. Our entire team is now under isolation, and there are no other positive reports; the rest are all negative,” a member of the team management stated.

After the rise in the number of cases, the BCCI planned to shift the third leg to Mumbai. But without taking risks, the board has suspended the franchise-based league.
