Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants are currently facing each other in the Eliminator of IPL 2022 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. LSG skipper KL Rahul won the toss and invited RCB to bat first. Losing the toss, however, didn’t seem to affect RCB batters as they posted a mammoth total of 207-4 on the board.

The highlight of the RCB innings was the century from Rajat Patidar. The Madhya Pradesh batter slammed 112 not out runs off just 54 balls in his innings. His knock consisted of 12 fours and 7 sixes.

With this, he became the first RCB batter and overall 5th to score a century in the IPL Play-offs. He is also the first uncapped player to hit a hundred in the Play-offs. In the 16th over, Patidar targetted young Ravi Bishnoi smashing 3 sixes and 2 fours.

Here is how twitter reacted to Rajat Patidar’s knock:

In the mid-innings interview Rajat Patidar said: “Feels good that we have posted such a good total on a good pitch. It won’t be that easy to defent this total, but if we bowl well, we do have a chance to win this game. I just tried to time the ball well and place it in the gaps. I wasn’t looking forward to getting my century, but I was trying to get as many runs as possible.”

Rajat Patidar came in as a replacement player for RCB in IPL 2022

It should be noted that Patidar had initially gone unsold in IPL 2022 auctions. However, during the season, RCB player Luvnith Sisodia got injured and was ruled out. Patidar was signed by RCB for INR 20 Lakhs as his replacement. In the 6 innings Rajat Patidar has played in IPL 2022, he has scored 275 runs at a strike rate of 156.
