The objective of the state government’s tender announcement is to gather information for a comprehensive project report that would help build the nation’s highest seating capacity, an international cricket stadium in Coimbatore.

In a recent move, the state government of Tamil Nadu intends to build a new cricket stadium in Coimbatore with international amenities. The state government of Tamil Nadu is reportedly intending to construct the nation’s largest stadium in terms of seating capacity.

Chief Minister MK Stalin had pledged during the parliamentary elections to construct an international cricket stadium in Coimbatore, according to State Industries Minister TRB Rajaa, who published this information on social media platform X (previously known as Twitter). According to him, the administration wishes to improve the area’s cricket infrastructure.

Tamil Nadu plans to build the world’s largest stadium:

The new cricket ground is expected to be constructed 16 kilometres from Coimbatore, as per DT Next. Together with top-notch amenities like a players’ lounge, a media centre, public cafeterias and restaurants, viewing galleries, a cricket museum, and the largest seating capacity in the nation, the project will be completed sometime in the next several years.

Chennai is known to have the TN stadium, which serves as a venue for international cricket matches. The Chepauk is India’s football second-oldest stadium; also it happens to be the home of Chennai Super Kings Franchise (CSK). Tamil Nadu has plans for building another international cricket ground after what happened at Chepauk Cricket Stadium in Chennai. However, what makes PB Cricket Ground more popular than other grounds is that it has more visitors.

The Department also recommends Lord’s Cricket Ground in London as a reference point and MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai and M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru as examples for new stadiums.

Thus, taking into consideration the successes of Chepauk Stadium in Chennai; the construction of this second international cricket stadium will begin soonest for the government of Telangana. In terms of capacity, the largest stadium in the world is the Narendra Modi Stadium, while the MCG is the biggest stadium in size. Furthermore, a new stadium in Hyderabad and Mumbai has also been announced by Telangana.
