The former skipper of the Zimbabwe Cricket Team Tatenda Taibu is the latest person to add the bandwagon of individuals, who expressed their opinion on the future of MS Dhoni. The wicketkeeper-batsman of Zimbabwe stated that retirement of India’s former skipper would be a massive affair if a farewell game is arranged.
Dhoni last played for India in the 50-over World Cup semifinal against New Zealand in July 2019. Former legends in Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev have made it clear that it was getting increasingly difficult for Dhoni to make an international return after such a prolonged sabbatical.

Speaking of the same to Cricfit, Tatenda Taibu expressed that he isn’t sure of how MS Dhoni is seeing his future. Though he avoided the question, he showered words of praise on MS Dhoni for his incredible fan base in the game of cricket.
”I was just thinking when MS Dhoni is going to announce his retirement. Or, he may be one of those, who just leave the game away silently. He is a big name in India. Everyone love Dhoni… I mean every single person loves MS Dhoni. So, I am thinking how he is going to air his retirement,” Tatenda Taibu said.
”It’s gonna be so huge. He either going to leave quietly, hurting the feelings of fans. Because, once he says that he is retired, it is going to be heart-breaking. So, I am actually thinking about that. Coming back to the question, I could have answered if I watching him playing. I haven’t because he hasn’t played. So, I couldn’t answer,” Tatenda Taibu opines.
Dhoni, who led India in 200 ODIs winning two World Cups and the Champions Trophy as captain, last played for India in the 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand last year where his gritty half-century almost got India over the line in the pressure 240-run chase.

India lost the semi-final by 18 runs to bow out of the World Cup with Dhoni opting for a sabbatical. Since then, the Jharkhand stalwart has not featured in any competitive games, creating massive speculations regarding his retirement.
It seems selectors and management have moved on from the prospect of the legendary finisher as the likes of Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul have replaced Dhoni in the limited-overs format.
