Team India spinner Ravi Bishnoi has expressed his views on the Test retirements of seasoned stars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Rohit Sharma ended his red-ball career on May 7, finishing with 4,301 runs in 67 Tests, including 12 centuries and 18 fifties. Kohli followed suit on May 12, retiring after 123 matches with 9,230 runs, comprising 30 centuries and 31 fifties.
Bishnoi discussed his reaction to the duo’s retirement during an appearance on the YouTube podcast Game Changers, which was released on Sunday, August 31.
“It is actually shocking, because you always want to see them retire from the field. For such big legends, you want them to leave while still being on the field, that looks much better. And what both of them have done for India, in my view, there is no one even close.”
“You want them to get a good farewell, but maybe they will get that in ODIs as well whenever they leave, whenever they want to. Because no one can tell you when you will retire. But it was shocking when both of them retired, because suddenly you feel like two spots have become empty, who will come and fulfill that?” he added.
“14-Year-Old Vaibhav Suryavanshi Doing Really Well, Deserves Appreciation” – Ravi Bishnoi
During the same conversation, Indian spinner Ravi Bishnoi lauded 14-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The young left-hander made his IPL debut for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 2025 season, showcasing impressive batting skills. Bishnoi remarked:
“It is challenging against everyone now, but his talent really deserves appreciation. Right now he is doing really, really well. You must have seen in England also, he broke the age-group record by scoring the fastest 100, and in the IPL also he scored a 100 in 34–35 balls. So it is not easy. Even big players have not been able to do that. A 14-year-old kid comes and does it, so that is his hard work and dedication.”
Ravi Bishnoi recounted an incident while talking to a few Rajasthan Royals players, mentioning that Suryavanshi was facing Jofra Archer in the nets as if he were just a club-level bowler. He further added:
“I was told they had already decided to play him if an opportunity arose. When Sanju bhai got injured, he got his chance. Even against Jofra in the nets, while big players struggled, he batted as if Jofra was just a club-level bowler and smashed him.”
