Team India Leaves Green Park Stadium On Day 2

The second day’s play of the Kanpur Test match between India and Bangladesh has been delayed due to rain. The Indian team left Green Park Stadium and returned to their hotel on Saturday morning (September 28) as the weather forecast suggested little chance for play to begin.

A video shows the team bus departing the venue, with rain and gloomy weather halting proceedings. Only 35 overs were bowled on the first day, after Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl first. On Friday (September 27), match officials called off play around 3 pm IST as the ground remained covered due to heavy rain.

Bangladesh Struggle Under Indian Bowling Attack

Bangladesh asked to bat first, struggled early on, losing both openers in the 13th over with just 29 runs on the board. Pacer Akash Deep, playing his third Test match, took the wickets of Zakir Hasan (0 off 24) and Shadman Islam (24 off 36), putting the visitors under pressure. Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mominul Haque then formed a 51-run partnership to stabilize the innings. Ravichandran Ashwin eventually dismissed Shanto for 31 runs off 57 balls, which included seven boundaries.

Mominul Haque, unbeaten on 40* with seven fours, and Mushfiqur Rahim are currently at the crease. Besides Akash Deep and Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj also bowled on Day 1. With the entire first session of Day 2 already lost, it remains uncertain whether play will resume on Saturday. India leads the two-match Test series 1-0 after a dominant 280-run win in the Chennai Test.

With the weather continuing to disrupt the Kanpur Test, uncertainty looms over the second day’s play. Despite a solid bowling effort from India on Day 1, led by Akash Deep and Ravichandran Ashwin, the rain has dampened any momentum.

As Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim look to build on Bangladesh’s recovery, much will depend on the weather allowing play to resume. India’s strong position in the series after their convincing win in Chennai adds further pressure on Bangladesh, who will need to capitalize on any opportunity if the rain permits a continuation of the match.
