Team India To Leave For South Africa On December 16: Reports

As per reports in Sportskeeda, Team India led by Virat Kohli will leave for South Africa on December 16. The squad will gather in Mumbai on Sunday, December 12 and will enter the bio-bubble. India will play three Tests and as many ODIs starting with the Boxing Day Test. They head into the series as the number one ranked team in ICC Test rankings after beating New Zealand at home. 

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed on Monday (December 6) that the Wanderers will host the New Year’s Test against India, starting on January 3 as they have announced the revised schedule.

India To Play 3 Tests, 3 ODIs Against South Africa

The tour will begin with the Boxing Day Test that is set to play at SuperSport Park in Centurion whereas Cape Town to host the third and final Test starting on January 11 as well. Notably, the series will be a part of the World Test Championship

 After the end of the Test series, both teams will take on each other in three ODIs on January 19 and 21 in Paarl and 23 in Cape Town respectively as well. The T20Is will be played on a later date as decided by both the boards. 

“BCCI has confirmed CSA that the Indian team will travel for three Tests and three ODIs. The remaining four T20Is will be played at a later date,” Jay Shah told news agency ANI.

There are also reports that Rohit Sharma might be announced as the next ODI captain of the side in the upcoming tour. The decision might be announced when the management announces the final squads. The Chetan Sharma-led national selection committee is yet to announce the squads.
