Former Indian captain Virat Kohli has responded to Yuvraj Singh’s heartfelt handwritten note and thanked the former cricketer for his wonderful gesture. Incidentally, Yuvraj had a gift for the celebrated Indian cricketer with a special note and a special edition sneaker.
From recalling Kohli’s young days to heaping praise on him for elevating his level of cricket, Yuvraj had poured his heart out on Instagram. Kohli has responded in a heartfelt manner, showing that they continue to share a strong bond.
Taking to social media, Virat Kohli wrote:
“Yuvi Pa thank you for this wonderful gesture. Coming from someone who’s seen my career unfold from day 1, it means a lot. Your life and your comeback from cancer was, is and will always be an inspiration for people in all walks of life not just cricket.”
He added:
“I’ve known you for who you are and you’ve always been very generous and caring for people around you. Now we’re both parents and know what a blessing that is. I wish you all the happiness, beautiful memories and blessings in this new journey. God bless Yuvi Pa. Rab rakha.”
Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh shared the dressing room for 9 years. They were teammates at the 2011 World Cup and 3 T20 World Cups. It was under Kohli’s captaincy, in 2017, that Yuvraj made his comeback to the national side during the home series against England.
The former India vice-captain went on to play ICC Champions Trophy 2017. His final India appearance also came under Kohli later that year. Yuvraj played one season for Royal Challengers Bangalore and played under Virat Kohli in IPL 2014. The star all-rounder retired from professional cricket in June 2019.
