Yuvraj Singh, a former Indian cricketer, praised his protégé Abhishek Sharma on Sunday, February 2, following the latter’s outstanding century in the fifth and final Twenty20 International match against England in Mumbai.
“Well played @IamAbhiSharma4! That’s where I want to see you! 🔥 Proud of you 👊🏻💯 #IndVSEng,” Yuvraj tweeted on Sunday evening.
The fifth T20I match between India and England hosted a historic batting performance by Abhishek Sharma that set many record-breaking milestones during his innings. His performance included 13 sixes which set a new Indian record for the most sixes hit in a T20I innings.
He hit the highest individual score of 135 runs by an Indian cricketer in the format and added 7 boundaries to his 13 sixes. Abhishek overpassed his Indian cricket team mate Shubman Gill who had scored 126 not out against New Zealand in 2023.
England struggled to stop Abhishek’s powerful batting style when he attacked the off-side deliveries. His innings contributed to more than 50 percent of India’s runs as the team established their best T20I score against England.
