The captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Shreyas Iyer, acknowledged his shock at the team’s Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 victory. When KKR defeated SRH to win the IPL 2024 trophy, Shreyas Iyer’s emotions ran wild. Iyer described what it means to win an IPL trophy for KKR in a video that was posted on the IPL’s official website.

After winning the IPL for the third time in the league’s existence, the Knights went on to write history. On Sunday, May 26, at M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, KKR defeated SRH by 8 wickets to win the IPL.

“The feeling is unbelievable right now. I am not able to digest the fact that we have already won. It doesn’t seem real, to be honest. I just want to soak up up this moment and enjoy it with everyone—the family members and the support system who have been there with us throughout. Yeah, man, I I never felt so happy,” Iyer said in the video.

To improve their performance in the Indian Premier League for the 2024 season, Kolkata Knight Riders, who had placed seventh in the previous two seasons, decided to undertake some major roster changes.

The franchise made two audacious moves: hiring Gautam Gambhir as a mentor and shelling out an incredible ₹24.75 million to get Mitchell Starc, a left-arm bowler with championship potential. The team benefited greatly from Gambhir’s presence, and even though Starc played inconsistently, he nevertheless turned in some very important performances.

Shreyas Iyer, the captain, performed brilliantly on the field and made largely accurate decisions when paired with Gautam Gambhir, Chandrakant Pandit, and Abhishek Nayar.

With nine victories and three losses, Kolkata Knight Riders finished first in the points table thanks to their excellent all-around play. They easily won Qualifier 1 to go to the summit match, ending their group-stage campaign with a record-breaking Net Run Rate of 1.428. Later, in the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, Chennai, they defeated SRH once more to claim the IPL 2024 trophy.
