Tymal Mills became the first bowler to pick a hat trick in this year’s edition of the Hundred. He achieved this milestone during an encounter against Welsh Fire on 12th August 2023 played at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. Southern Brave stand-in captain Leus du Ploy won the toss and elected to bowl first as James Vince did not feature to illness.
George Garton dismissed returning Jonny Bairstow, and Joe Clarke without opening their account. Tymal Mills got rid of Glenn Phillps to leave Welsh Fire team in big trouble. Southern Brave bowlers kept picking wickets at regular intervals and did not allow the host’s batting lineup to score runs freely.
Mills dismissed Ben Green, Haris Rauf, and David Payne of the 98th, 99th, and 100th ball to pick the first hat trick this year. It was a remarkable bowling effort by the Southern Brave side skittling the Welsh Fire side for just 87 in 100 balls. Tymal Mills ended with figures of 4 wickets giving away just 13 runs from 20 balls. Craig Overton grabbed 2 wickets, George Garton 3 wickets conceding only 8 runs, and Matthew Fisher 1 wicket.

Southern Brave won the title beating Birmingham Phoenix to win the first edition of the tournament. He was again bought by Southern Brave side during the 2022 edition.
Tymal Mills grabbed a total of 8 wickets from 10 matches (10 innings) at an economy of 6.67 runs per over and best figures of 3 for 8. The left-arm pacer played for Southern Brave in the initial matches of the 2022 edition before a toe injury ruled him out of the tournament.
