DThe Mumbai Indians’ (MI) five-time IPL champion skipper, Rohit Sharma, has thanked the team for keeping him for the 2025 season. He would be paid INR 16.30 crore, which would put him in fourth place among the team’s players.

Rohit is third among his fellow colleagues in retention value, after Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya (both valued at INR 16.35 crore), as well as Jasprit Bumrah, whose value stands at INR 18 crore. Being retained implies that Rohit is considered an asset to the Mumbai Indians franchise.

Having joined MI in 2011, Rohit has been an important figure in the side’s achievements and will play for at least the next three years with them. The team has achieved five IPL championships, and his ability to lead and bat exceptionally well has contributed a great deal to this.

Rohit’s extensive stay with the Mumbai Indians also raises expectations for the success of the team, especially considering that he is one of the most successful captain’s in the IPL. His retention shows the value he possesses for the team, whether it is in the field or away from it.

“I’m thrilled to be part of Mumbai Indians yet again”- Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai Indians’ (MI) five-time IPL champion, said the fourth retention place was appropriate for him after the team signed the former India captain for Rs 16.30 crore on Thursday.

“Since I’ve retired from the format, this is the perfect spot for me. The players who are in the national team should get the preference. That is what I believe in and I’m quite happy with that,” Rohit said.

“I’m thrilled to be part of Mumbai Indians yet again. I have played so much cricket here. This is the place where I started my cricket career. So, this is a very, very special city and I’m happy to be here. And obviously, when you play for such a long time, you create so many memories with the team. We haven’t had the best of seasons in the last two or three years. Determined to change that. We will be looking to each other’s help and hopefully we can turn it around,” Rohit added.

Hardik Pandya has taken over as captain, while Sharma continues to give steadiness at the top of the batting order.
