Team Australia is placed in Group A of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021. They are placed alongside West Indies, England, and South Africa. Meanwhile, Aakash Chopra has come up with his opinions on the recently announced squad of Team Australia for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Recently, Australia in not having a great run in T20I cricket. They have lost 5 consecutive T20I series against Teams like England, India, New Zealand, West Indies, and Bangladesh. Many experts have criticized Team Australia for losing the series against the likes of the West Indies and Bangladesh.

Aakash Chopra talked about Australia’s recently announced T20 World Cup squad in his YouTube channel. He opined that team Australia only looks good on paper, however, they might not perform very well in the World Cup. Aakash Chopra stated:

“On paper, this looks a fantastic team. But their story is that all five fingers come together but do not become a fist. While this looks like a very good team on paper, I am not very very excited about their prospects.”

The Group A of T20 World Cup 2021, is named as a group of death by many cricket fans pundits. The cricketer turned commentator feels that Australia is in slight trouble as they are placed in a group of death. Aakash Chopra said:

“Firstly the pool they are in, I feel they are going to get slightly stuck. That’s the pool of death, ours is not.”

The 43-year-old feels that Australia has an ‘extremely good’ bowling attack. However, he added that the spin-bowling department of the team looks slightly weak. Chopra asserted:

“The bowling is looking extremely good but they are slightly short in the spin department. And also remember that the World Cup is going to happen after the IPL.”

Former Indian cricketer further added that Australia’s batting line-up also might struggle against spinners in the UAE surface. Aakash Chopra elaborated:

“When those things remain in the mind, Australia becomes a decent team, not a great team because the spin reserves – Swepson, Zampa, Agar – not the greatest, let’s admit that. There could be some problems while playing against spin in the batting department as well.”
