The Women’s Hundred 2023: [WATCH] Richa Ghosh Grabs A One-Handed Stunner To Dismiss Alice Davidson-Richards

In the Women’s Hundred match, Richa Ghosh, the wicketkeeper for the Indian women’s team, demonstrated impressive awareness in London Spirit’s game against Northern Superchargers on August 18.

During the second innings, as the Superchargers pursued 136 runs, with 31 required from 22 balls, Alice Davidson-Richards tried a reverse ramp shot against Sarah Glenn. Despite the batter’s weak hit off the bottom of the bat, the ball deflected off the body and rose into the air near the off-stump. Richa Ghosh’s remarkable dive and right-handed reach led to an outstanding catch.

During the chase, Ghosh took a catch behind the stumps to dismiss Northern Superchargers’ opener Marie Kelly off a delivery by Lauren Filer. Despite London Spirit applying pressure in the second innings, Georgia Wareham (19*) and Kate Cross (15*) guided the visitors to victory with only one ball left.

The Women’s Hundred 2023 saw Richa Ghosh’s London Spirit being knocked out

The recent loss of London Spirit by four wickets against the Northern Superchargers has definitively ended their chances of advancing in the tournament, despite still having two games yet to play. Heather Knight’s team won only once in six games, with two matches undecided, giving them four points. Meanwhile, the Superchargers, currently at the top with 10 points, have advanced to the knockout stage.

Regardless of the outcome in their final two league matches against Manchester Originals Women (on August 27) and Welsh Fire Women (on August 22), Hollie Armitage’s team is assured of a top-three finish. Richa Ghosh has managed 44 runs across four innings with a subpar strike rate of 88, including her 21 runs from 15 balls against the Superchargers.

In terms of wicketkeeping, she has completed a total of five catches, making her the second-highest in dismissals among keepers this season.
